Dasavatharam

Now why would any one say that the movie is a dud??? Duh??? Here you have the Ulaga nayagan (Universal hero) trying his level best with the director to present a perfect pot boiler. And it turns out to be a near to perfect one. Coupled with some excellent editing, choreography and CGI it is a must watch.

Kamal in his ten avatars. Let me see if I can recollect all 10 characters.

1. Govind - The scientist
2. The staunch devotee
3. The old lady
4. Vincent Poovaraghan
5. The Japanese out on vengeance
6. Christian, the main villian
7. Kalifullah Khan
8. Avtar singh, who takes a new avtar at the end, literally
9. Balram Naidu - The detective
10.George Bush!!!

After watching the movie once, about a week back, this is the impact u have on the movie. You wanna watch it again. Though the majority of the movie is all "masala", the way the lives of all 10 are wound into a single big story is amazing. Hats off to KS Ravikumar for that. Not in one place do you feel that the connection is lost. Though some are plain unwanted sequences and some roles do not contribute as much as the others, the way it is handled is commendable.

Vincent Poovaraghan impresses most. Kamal has got into the skin of a dalit literally and lived the role, so to say. His dialogue delivery is AMAZING.

As for the Japanese, but for prior knowledge that he plays that role, not many could have made it out that it is Kamal, as his trade mark base tone voice is not evident. The character speaks of volumes on the commitment levels of Kamal, from the walk, to the bow, he truly makes you feel he is Japanese. He sure must have taken lots of pains to portray that character.

Of course there will always be those who will not like the movie. For those who don't, if you were looking for a message then I suggest you watch Anbe Sivam, Mahanadhi etc. For those who did not like it genuinely, I suggest you read the blog again and try relate to the pains that the master actor should have gone through to portray these characters, you might still not like the movie, but will definitely appreciate Kamal Hassan.
